Founder & Head Barber
New Paltz Barbershop · Est. 2024
From a 14-year-old with a dream and a pair of clippers, to the barber New Paltz didn't know it needed. Mohamed's story is one of passion, grit, and community.
His Story
Mohamed's journey started in 2010, when he was just 14 years old. With a pair of clippers he didn't fully know how to use yet, and an instinct that something was right about this craft, he started cutting hair, for friends, for family, for anyone who'd sit down. No school. No shortcuts. Just repetition, feedback, and a genuine love for the art.
Over the years, Mohamed sharpened his technique into something unmistakable. He studied the geometry of the fade, the precision of clean lines, the way a great haircut can completely shift how someone carries themselves. What started as weekend cuts eventually became a serious pursuit — and a clear calling.
In September 2024, after years of building his craft, Mohamed took the leap and opened New Paltz Barbershop on Main Street, just him, one chair, and a commitment to every single person who walked through that door. The community showed up immediately. Word spread the way it does when something is genuinely good: one client at a time.
Today, Mohamed has served over 2,000 clients and built a shop that feels less like a business and more like a neighborhood cornerstone. He still cuts the same way he always has focused, intentional, and proud of every line he puts in.
What He Does Best
Every person who sits in my chair deserves to leave looking and feeling their best. That's not a slogan, that's just how I work.
